minimalist theme, compatibility with the WPML language plugin

I cannot use the minimalist theme together with the WPML plugin (for mulitlingual sites).
When activating the plugin, the server sais:

“Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. Unable to load the requested page. This may be caused by cookies that are blocked.”

The blog becomes unusable, until I deactivate this plugin.

Has anybody similar experiences?
