Only seeing Minify with YUI Compressor [ If selected, it will try to use the YUI Compressor to minify JS files ]

on the dev environment not on the live. Same setup of course and same plugin version. Why?

You have java installed, so that option is avalable. However, you don’t need to select it.

By default it uses php minify, if you don’t select anything there.

Ok got it, but if I want to use YUI? why doesn’t I see the option. The dev environment is replicated from live. Same server etc. So what ever is installed on live is installed on dev.

Sounds strange that one site should have java and not the other one.

Well the detection method is the same on both sites, so if one says its not available, its probably right.

Note that staging environments are not always the same, even when hosts say they are.

For example, wpengine staging is supposed to be the same, but cache is off, expires headers are not enabled and several other things.

Unless you have installed the server from scratch yourself, you cannot be 100% sure.

Also java may be installed, but for some reason it may have been blocked on php for that specific site.

In that case, please ask your host about it.
