    I optimize the code and minify the CSS in the settings

    so HTML + CSS optimization, and no JS optimization?

    if so; can you try with HTML only and with CSS only optimization to identify which of those two might be responsible?

    and can you provide your site’s URL?

    CSS is ok

    HTML Optimization removes link

    Images are in widgets.

    weird, have never seen this before and can’t reproduce;
    * create a text widget
    * added this in in the text widget’s content;

    <a href="https://boe.be/"><img src="https://images.vrt.be/mobile320/2016/01/26/9e84d0a2-c450-11e5-a51e-00163edf48dd.jpg"></a>

    -> result: autoptimized HTML still has the link (a href) in place.

    can you provide your site’s URL for me to have a look at your HTML?
