• I’m using Mingle to add some social networking to a mostly static site. It has the ability to stop users getting at the dashboard which I like as they already have the ability to edit a profile.

I’m wondering if there’s a plugin/widget that allows contributors to submit posts or pages for approval without them having to go into the wp-admin area?

    Thanks

Aha, sorted. Finally found the right plugin – TDO Mini Forms – which means I can block off the wp-admin area completely and still enable user submitted content.

Hey MsCrow, thank you for actually coming back to mention TDO Mini Forms because I’m trying to do exactly what you are.

In fact I’m really surprised there aren’t more solutions for keeping members OUT of the admin area, yet making it easy for them to submit material.

The instant you shove users into that admin area, many of them are totally confused. I hope that plugin you mention works out well, I’m going to check it out now.

TDO miniforms had a lot of potential but the author has really bloated the plugin and it won’t run on most shared hosting account without killing the php memory.

I agree hence why I used mini forms and like that Mingle locks people out of admin. Why spend ages theming a website only to have users see a totally different back end?

I hope the developers of Mingle look at this. TDO is good but as has been noted, for some people it’s causing a lot of errors. For my use it’s fine but I can’t understand why there aren’t more plugins like it either.
