Minamaze Header and Slider Pics Cropped

I am new to wordpress, trying to build my own website. Minamaze is a great theme and I love the design. However, whenever I tried to upload my header and slider images, they always got cropped. What is the ideal size for the images? I searched online but really couldn’t find much useful.
