    Hello WPVivid Team,

I read through the documentation. But, couldn’t figure out how to prepare the ‘receiving’ website for migration – [as the migration/cloning to a another site is different than the process of restoration.]

Here is the task that I need to accomplish:

Clone my ‘mathandact.com’ site — which is built with Elementor, and then ‘restore/migrate’ it to another site (https://mathonia.com) hosted on the same server.

Now, here are the points that I am not sure about:

1). How to prepare the other site on which I will be installing the ‘backup’? That site is also live and running on WordPress.

2). Should I remove/delete all the existing files (media, pages, posts, custom css) there first prior to installing the backup?

3). Also, I assume WPVivid will backup the entire site, and will change all the media urls/references in the receiving site accordingly?

4). I believe, WordPress must remained installed on the the receiving website?

Thank you very much for your help and advice.

    Hi,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Q1: Please install our plugin on your receiving site.

Q2: No, you don’t need to delete the existing files on the receiving site.

Q3: Yes, if you choose to create a full backup, our plugin will replace all media URLs on receiving site. Just in case, please backup your receiving site to remote storage before migration.

Q4: Yes, the receiving site still is a WordPress site.

We recommend you to migrate your site by using Auto-migration feature since your two sites are hosted on same server. Please follow this step by step guide to complete the site migration.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions,

    Regards.

    Hi Nicholas,

Thank you for looking into it and answering all my questions.

I’ll be migrating the site tomorrow, and, hopefully, it will go without a hitch.

Thank you again for such a great support.

    Hi Nicholas,

On the second note (regarding deleting the existing files on the receiving site); will not it be a cleaner install if I just delete all the existing files (images, pages, posts, CSS etc.) prior to migration/cloning?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

You can delete or keep the existing files in the receiving site before migration, which won’t affect the site migration. It is completely up to you.

    Regards.
