I am trying to perform the migration to the new database.

I have 2634 events. The first preview I ran took several hours and had 1 event left when it seemed to have stalled. After a Re-try that took hours there were two events that were reported as causing problems. I took care of what looked like the issues. After another preview run 3 other events were flagged.

I have version 6.0.6.2 of the plugin, WP 6.1.1, PHP 7.4.28.

    What would you recommend?

    Hi @jkengineer ,
    ?
I’m sorry you’re having trouble with this.
    ?
We recommend migrating after deactivating all third-party plugins on the site for anyone with ongoing migration issues. Once the migration is complete, you can re-activate the plugins.
    ?
Please give that a try and let us know how it goes!

I deactivated all optional plugins. The is one MU plugin that does not have the option to deactivate (SSO by Garth Mortensen, Mike Hansen).

I reran the preview. It reported 5 errors, but the field in the report to show the errors was empty: [ ]. Each of the events had their start and end times the same (which is true for many of our events). Your trouble shooting guide suggested that this might be an issue, so I edited each of the 5.

I reran the preview and got 6 more events in error. I think these are all new events (no duplicates from the first list), but I’m not certain.

    What do you suggest now?

    Thanks.

Hi @jkengineer, yikes. Let’s see. Just curious we’re you able to run the migration without any third-party plugins? Also, caching — worth checking if you’re running any server-side caching as well please deactivate it.

Also, it would be good to try the snippet found in our migration article here and see if that does the trick for you. https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/migrating/#migration-stuck

To be safe, we’d recommend conducting tests and updates on a Staging Server. Also, please keep a working backup of your website.

    Keep us posted.

Sort of an update: I did not get notified of your response by WP and only just saw it. So I haven’t done anything yet. I will try your suggestions.

I wonder if the first thing I should try is deactivating the SSO plugin. A Google search says it is for login control, not, as I suspected “Server Side Optimization”. The only way I can think of doing that is to go into file manager / FTP and rename its directory. Thoughts?

Hi @jkengineer, no worries here. You can also try that, but please do keep a working backup of your website just in case, and to be safe, please test it out on a staging site.

    Please do keep us posted.

    Hi @jkengineer

We haven’t heard from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. Feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.

It’s not resolved, it’s just a major pain to which I have not returned yet.
