Migration from WP Term Meta to WP Core termmeta

  • I plan on implementing term meta on my site in the next few weeks using this plugin. I’ve been following some of the discussions on implementing term meta into core in WP 4.4, and saw that this plugin is compatible with the proposed implementation.

    When 4.4 is released, what would the migration process look like? Will this simply use the same database table as core?

    The table structure is identical and uses the same name. All functionality is ignored if WordPress has already defined term meta functions. There shouldn’t be any migration necessary, since this is basically the same implementation as in core (JJJ, feel free to correct me on this).

    John is correct. If you choose to install this plugin today, you can safely remove it when WordPress 4.4 is released and everything will work identically.
