Migration failure

    I’m trying to transfer a wp site from the MAMP development site to an external test site. To make sure the transfer went OK I backed up the database to an SQL file and loaded it into the corresponding database on the test site. I copied all the directories from the development site to the test site. When I access the test site the front page displays just fine and I can edit and update all the other pages.
    BUT the test site only shows the front page! All the attempts to see the other pages produce an “Object not found!” 404 message. Clearly something is screwed up with the link system past the home page but I haven’t been able to track it down.
    Any ideas?

    Comment out your htaccess file’s code and see if the problem persists.

    Ooops! I should have added that, before I did the database transfer I edited the SQL file to change the site addresses from /localhost:8888/ to the test site address. 66 changes.

    Go into your permalink settings and save them again. If that doesn’t work, try using WP Migrate DB. Great plugin.

    No change after I commented out the .htaccess file code; it only contained a rewrite module section.
