Migration and Media Library

Hey folks,

I’ve recently migrated a fairly large site for development, however, now I need to merge updates from the live site to the dev site without replacing the database, due to dev site changes.

Issue #1 How to export featured images with post from a selected date range?

My primary focus and concern is post, featured images, and the media library. It appears that exporting post using the built in export option does not export featured images or images, especially when selecting a date range.

Issue #2 Where can I find the table for the media library, when only uploading images directly to the media library?

From my research, it appears that uploading images directly to the media library “does not” store an entry in the database, however, the URL has to be stored somewhere, correct? Finding which table the media library stores the URL’s seems to be the issue.

Issue #3 How to import images while keeping the month / year structure?

Last, I’ve uploaded images directly to the server, with the hope that there would be a way that I can link / have the media library pickup on these images. The most important thing to note here is that it’s necessary to keep the year / month directory structure so that users are able to select a month from the media library and filter images by month.
