Migrating WP blog to new website/domain host provider
-
Greetings,
I once posted here and got zero responses, so I’m dubious as to whether this will work, but I need to get some feedback so I’m giving it a shot.
I just recently migrated from Yahoo! (awful, terrible, no good) and moved my domain over to Wix. I had a free blog, administered via WP, which somehow hooked into my domain and website, without requiring any sort of WP in the URL. In other words:
a. The public-facing blog was just https://www.<mydomain>.com/blog.
b. The admin URL was https://www.<mydomain>.com/blog/wp-admin/.Both addresses are currently unreachable as I need a link to hook up the old blog to the new domain via the Wix control panel. After speaking with a Wix representative at length the other day, it became clear that this was a bit of an oddball situation: The WP blog must’ve been somehow embedded in the Yahoo site, because I did not start blogging with WP from scratch using WP.com or WP.org (which is still confusing – more on that later). So therefore, I was told I need for WP support to issue me, or tell me how to get, a WP URL so that we could hook the blog back up to my site.
I will accept any official help from actual WP staff or superusers among the public community to get this resolved ASAP. Thanks very much for reading.
Mike
