I have a client that migrated a subscription website built on Wix (with PayPal gateway that uses B-token’s for subscriptions), to a WordPress website using Paid Memberships Pro plugin (with PayPal Express gateway, but uses I-token’s for subscriptions). I’ve imported the existing Wix users with their B-token’s, but the subscriptions are failing to renew. The new subscriptions work fine. Does anyone know of a way to get the migrated subscriptions working?

Hi there, thank you for reaching out to the Paid Memberships Pro team.

What flavour of PayPal was used on the Wix site? Were those payments processed through the same PayPal account or through a connect account (or similar) that may have been processed or belong to Wix?

    Kind Regards,

Hi Jarryd. Thank you for the response. On the old Wix site, it was just using PayPal, there is no indication if it’s PayPal Standard, Express, etc.

On the new website, the subscriptions have been setup to use the same email where Wix payments were going.

Both the old B-tokens and new I-tokens are listed under billing agreements in PayPal.

Thank you for your feedback. I’ve been digging further into this and it appears that “Subscriptions that are currently using Reference Transactions will have a payment ID token that starts with?B-“

I then found a PayPal forum discussion here (https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Sandbox-Environment/How-to-activate-reference-transactions/td-p/3063977) where it looks like you need to reach out to PayPal and ask them to turn this one. This should then allow the renewals of this existing transactions to still work.

Please give this a try and let me know if it helps?

    Kind Regards,
