I have a domain with 8 sub-domains, all with WordPress installations. I am migrating to a new web-host and are trying to make it as simple as possible. Am I right in thinking I don’t need to move all the files and folders, but actually just the “wp-content folder” and then obviously the database? Then on the new host I can use a fresh installation of WordPress and copy in my wp-content folder and change the wp-config.php file. Any help would be much appreciated. TIA

  • Hello Tasha.
Though each server environment and, WordPress install may present unique challenges, yes, you are generally on the right track.

Have you had a chance to read over the Codex documentation on Moving WordPress?
    (Very useful ??

I find database migration plugins to be a huge time saver. WP Migrate DB is one (among several) such tools.

    Good luck!

Lovely, thank so much. I’ll have a look at those plugins. Thanks!
