• Hi

I don’t know if this is the right sub forum to post this in but anyway.

I have a website that runs off Joomla but I have redesigned this site using WordPress 4.1.1 as a subdomain. So there is domain A which is the main domain that runs off Joomla which is the one that I want to get rid of, and there is domain B which is a sub domain and I want to have take over domain A.

My host eukhost. has migrated the two sites, however there have been some problems with the site like the site using the old urls on the page and the homepage has completely disappeared while other links are still there. My host are saying that I need my developer to help sort it all out but I do not have one and this whole project has been done by me (I had a programmer that did the Joomla site but he wasn’t very good and can’t help me now). They are saying it is a programming issue, however I believe it is their fault as before the migration took place everything was working perfectly, but now the site is missing the homepage and its just messed up.

Is there anything that can help ?

    Thanks

Do you still have the one in subdomain working online?

In case it’s already gone, most web hostings have the backups, try asking for it so we can reverse the site on subdomain to the before moving state.

Then perform the Moving WordPress properly. There are 2 methods; using the WP’s export/import method (the xml one), and the direct database method which requires serialized search and replace site url thing.

    Hi

Thanks for the quick reply, the subdomain is still online however it seems to be mimicking the issues of the main domain it was migrated too, so it shares the same problem of having no homepage and the content and data there being gone.

My subdomain runs off wordpress, I can easily export the site, however how would I import it into the main domain if that main domain runs off of Joomla not wordpress?

    Thanks

If the subdomain one has the same problem then there is no point in taking it to the target site again. We have to find out if this problem had been there before but went unnoticed or it happened at the time he did the transfer — whatever it is we have to fix it before transfer.

The WP to Joomla question that I can not answer, there might be a way but you have to check with the Joomla guys.

It depends on the size of the content too, if you got like a hundred web pages, sometimes it’s easier and faster to just to it manually.
