• Well, this is silly. I attempted to migrate a single user’s blog off of Multisite and onto it’s own installation. And of course, I didn’t follow the directions. Now I just need to find a way back to a useable blog.

The big issue is this: users on this blog seem to be recognized as “admins” in the sense of Multiuser admins, which of course have a few less things they can do than Super Admins. Specifically, these “admins” are not able to see User profiles or export Posts, which if they could, would solve all my problems, as far as I know.

I’ve checked the user_capabilities entry in the usermeta table, and it’s correct. Yet I still have no access.

I’d just export the posts and rebuild if I thought that was possible, but again: I have no access.

    Advice?

  • To migrate a site, why didn’t you just export the post and pages?

Did you make a backup of your site before you tried to migrate the site? Have you tried repairing your database?

Tom, can you be more specific about what you did in the migration that didn’t work? Did you delete content out of the multisite database in the process? First of all, is your problem only that you can’t get the new exported site to work, or that you can’t go back to take another try at an export? Second, what was it you did in the export that didn’t work?

If you can go back and take another try at it, I regularly use BackupBuddy to do this–make a single site export out of multisite, and then restore as a single site. BUB says this feature is beta (and has been for years), but it works, and it’s fast — totally worth the $ for the time saved.
