• We have been using WordPress for our municipal website since 2008 and I would love to be able to edit the homepage using the WordPress editor “Edit Page” (Visual/Text) rather than editing the home.php code through Editor. Any recommendations on how to port the material and use the more contemporary approach?

    Here is the website: https://www.bradfordnh.org.

Thanks for any help you might provide!

    Andrew

It better to use plain text editor for editing files like home.php

On this site, https://troublewit.net/, I can edit the home page with the “Edit Page” option (when I am logged in I see a button to edit the page). On this site. https://bradfordnh.org/, I can’t. I am forced to edit using the Theme Editor. What is the difference between the two? And how can I migrate the latter so it behaves like the former?

I get that you need a text editor to edit php files; I don’t get how to change the bradford site to be more like the troublewit site…

    Are both sites:
    On same server?
    Same settings?
    Same theme?
    Same plugins?
    Same WP version?

Same server. Same settings (mostly). Not the same theme (bradford is Twenty Eleven; troublewit is K2). Mostly the same plugins. Same WP version.

    This could be the reason.

Try using the sane theme on both, and see if that helps. If it does not, I suggest discussing this with your hosting provider.
