    Good Day All !

I am getting very close to being ready to migrate my “Staging” site over to where my Live site is now. I have deep concerns.

I have MONTHS of work in my new site, and don’t want to blow it.

I have a live site, [ redundant link removed ], that i want to overwrite with my staging site, (www.enjoyncwithme.com/staging), question is, HOW is the easiest way, without screwing it up? I have watched video after video, and there seems to be several paths to take.

Level of Experience At THIS = 2 on a scale of 0-5.

    THANKS!

  • Back up your current website first.
If you have full server management rights, you can modify the directory corresponding to the domain name to the Staging folder.
Then modify the website settings to your domain name.

If you are a virtual host, delete the current website data and move the files in the staging folder to the website root directory.
Then set the website url to your domain name.
Others may need to replace the old and new domain names in the website database in batches.

No full server rights. Hosted at HostGator. Was hoping to be able to use a plugin to do this move.

You can do it manually by first backing up your website data.
    1. Move all the contents of the Staging folder to the website root directory.
    2. Login to the database to modify the website URL
3.Log into wp-admin and use the replacement plugin to modify the database
