    Hi there,
We have a site where we have folks entering content and uploading media. We plan to move the content and media over to a new site. I did a basic WP export of content and then imported it but it looks like the media categories didn’t come over. Is there a best practice method you would recommend for ensuring that we sync our media up with the new site to ensure meta is sent over?

Thanks for your question, which has come once or twice in earlier support topics, such as:

Batch upload of media (not bulk upload)

How to migrate image attributes during site migration

As you can see from the earlier topics, MLA doesn’t have ay specific features to help with this task. My comments in the second topic go into more details on the challenges involved. The best approach is a complete database migration with some tool that can, for example, change all the URLs in the database and embedded in page/post content.

There are several plugins for migrating sites, but I do not have personal experience with any of them. A Google search for “WordPress site migration” will turn up many resources.

I regret the news is not better, but I am marking this topic resolved simply because the question has been answered to the best of my ability. I wish you every success with the migration of the site and the rest of your application. Thanks for you interest in MLA.
