• Resolved savingcase

I migrated my site from winhost to bluehost over the weekend. Followed all the guides. Installed wordpress on the new host, replaced wp-content, revised wp-config, uploaded sql file. Everything is showing in the location that it is supposed to per ftp and phpmyadmin.

When I logged into the admin, it was showing as a new wp install. When I entered admin, none of my posts or pages exist. None of my widgets are there, etc. I’ve redone it twice and can’t figure out what I did wrong. I ended up parking a “scheduled maintenance” page – it is savingcase.com.

The old main page was at savingcase.com/index.php, which I’m hoping to change at the new host to eliminate the index.php (routing my permalinks will be it’s own question), but I thought I’d mention it in case it has anything to do with it. I know enough to be dangerous, but not enough to migrate my site properly, apparently. ??

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Sounds like some or all of your database didn’t get moved. Your pages, posts and comments should be in the wp_posts table. (the wp may be different depending upon your installation).

Using phpmyadmin, located in your new hosting account, Browse the wp_posts table for your missing content. Be careful anytime you are in phpmyadmin. You are working with live data and there is NO UNDO button.

If you find that your content is not in your new site, try importing your old database again. Last resort, if your old account is still available, export another copy of your old database and import it into the the new site.

If you are unsure about any step, search the codex for how to articles before you begin the process.

Yes, all my posts are in the posts table. Everything appears to be where it should.

I did some more digging in phpmyadmin and discovered that there appears to be two sets of files. My original ones are named like wp_posts whereas the ones it is drawing from are named wp_dsro_posts.

    My questions are
    (1) Any idea why it created a new database essentially?
    (2) Might it have something to do with the fact that this is an add-on domain (but it’s own website and wp installation) in bluehost?
    (3) Can I just delete the new tables and rename my old ones to add the _dsro to fix it?

    Thanks so much.

I’ve figured it out. The named prefix in wpconfig somehow now had additional letters in it. Hoping a moderator can delete this post until I can change the prefix to another. #modlook

Sorry I’m not sure I understand why you want this thread deleted.

Because it has my new table prefix. Changing it can help with security and I just didn’t want to have to go change it to something else. Or if you could delete the actual text of the prefix / change to wp_XXXX_.
