Migrated DB bigger than exported and migration failure

I have used wp migrate db for a couple of times successfully so far and I have been very satisfied with it. However, when I tried to migrate https://www.nagual-schamanismus.at/ to https://bolius.net/nagual something weird happened:
The database migrated by the plugin resulted in a much higher file size (16MB) than when I used the export function in myphpadmin (2MB). That looked strange. But, more importantly, the migration itself did not work. Both, https://bolius.net/nagual and https://bolius.net/nagual/wp-admin resulted in a blank white page. Migration included importing the migrated DB and transferring the WordPress web space via ftp, as I do normally.
Does anyone have a clue what happened?
