Migrate From Easy Modal

    I’ve used Easy Modal for a long time and was very satisfied. Until it recently stopped working at all. Given that Popup Maker is being pushed agressively as its replacement, I’m considering migrating from EM to PM. However, can I get some assurance in advance that the transition is painless. For instance, does PM import EM modals?

    @florismk – Would be interested to know why EM stopped working. Have not seen reports of this. Its been pretty solid for a long time.

    PM Did/does have an import tool but it needs to be updated. To be clear we have a stepped upgrade process for internal PM updates, and we have an import tool to convert modals to popups. But that import tool hasn’t been updated since v1.1, and there have been substantial changes to data storage since then.

    So to clarify, we can get them imported, but for them to be updated to the latest data set properly we may need to trick PM into processing those internal upgrade routines that can get the data from old formats all the way to the latest.

    I will admit this hasn’t had a lot of attention and it needs it now more than ever with EM still growing (despite the ample warnings its not actively developed). I will get it high on the list of priorities for the next major version (getting the import tool updated).

    Sorry I don’t have a better answer, honestly the tool didn’t get much use that we know of as people have refused to migrate haha.

    Strangely, the problem disappeared just now. I deactivated a few of my plugins, and while going through the list and deactivating them, I came upon Photo Box. That was immediately my suspect, so after deactivating that, I tried my modals. They worked. But then I went back and reactivated the plugins, and they kept working.

    Strange, but the problem is gone, at least. Will you announce the release of an updated converter/importer?
