    Hi,

    In a website I currently have a static(non-wordpress) homepage (/) and 2 instalations of wordpress(/wp1 & /wp2):

I want unify both installations so maintenace is simpler and it allows me to create more sites & supages more quickly.

At this moment I only use subdirectories at my site. Do you recomend me keep this configuration or use subdomains configuration at multisite, instead?

I want to keep the themes and content of this installations & I am scared about downtime during this procedure.

    How shall I proceed?

  • I personally only use subdomains. Although it may just be easier to stay with subdirectories if you are use to them.

If you are worried about downtime then I would suggest experimenting on a localhost install or even doing it all on a localhost install and then transferring it over. It will save you a lot of heck especially if you don’t have much experience with WordPress MU.

    Good luck,
    Matthew

How I get the data of the /wp1 & /wp2 databases to the new installations DB?

export from the admin dashboard, Tools -> Export on both WP.
Import both data on the new WP to merge as one, –OR–
Import one by one under the sub-site.

Done. And Up & Running. Exported on XML. WordPress Importer activated and XML uploaded. That was easy. Thanks!
