My website currently uses All in One SEO. I have Jetpack for other reasons, so I’d like to switch to its SEO. The features I use in AIO are in basic Jetpack, so that’s not a problem.

I can turn off and delete AIO without removing its data. But is there something I need to do to migrate the SEO metadata it created to Jetpack? Or will Jetpack automatically pick that up from the pages?

I’ve searched the Jetpack docs and forums and couldn’t find this addressed.

    Thank you,
    Jim

    Hi @amrevnc

There really isn’t a way to migrate the SEO metadata over to Jetpack.

However, Jetpack will pick up any current metadata on the existing pages.

So if you just want your site to be configured correctly so that search engines will show the correct information in search result listings, then Jetpack’s SEO features should do the trick without having to do anything further.

    I hope that helps!

That does, thank you, Bruce. I assumed that was the case, but wanted to double-check before taking the plunge!

    Best regards,

Sadly, Bruce, it does not work as we expected. Upon deactivating AIOSEO, the meta description seemed to have disappeared from the page source. Upon reactivating it, I realized it still wasn’t in the page source. Apparently AIOSEO serves its metadata out each time the page is called, which explains why it is such a loading-time hog, which is why I wanted to get rid of it.

    Thank you anyway,
    Jim
