    Hi there,
I bought the Migrate add-on yesterday. Unfortunately it messes up each new WordPress installation. I connect to my Updraft account & manage to upload the 4 zip folders (theme, database, plugins and uploads), but as soon as I click on “restore”, this plugin somehow changes the Wp password so that I cannot login any more.
Then I have to delete the WP installation in order to log into the dashboard, activate Updraft and migrate etc etc, and start anew – which I have now done 3 times!
I think I either would like my money back or you’ll have to do the transfer for me – please.
    Thanks,
    Susanne

    Hi Susanne,

The paid-version support forum is here: https://updraftplus.com/forums/

But to answer the question (which also has relevance to people restoring sites, not just migrating them, so may be useful to free users)… when you import/migrate a database, you’re restoring/migrating your WordPress users too – because those are part of the database. You’re over-writing your current database (and hence your users). So you then need to log-in using the login details from the “old” site (the one you’re restoring/migrating) from. This is explained in step 6. of the guide – https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-migrate-to-a-new-site-location/

“If you do return to the WordPress dashboard, then don’t be surprised if you have to log in again – having replaced your site database, WordPress may need you to re-identify yourself:”

See here what shows when I log in to the old site:

Don’t know why but this is now completely messed up?

    Hi Susanne,

The problem you’re having there is because they’re both in the same web hosting space, and the parent directory’s web server configuration (rewrite rules) are conflicting with the sub-directory.

But don’t worry. Since you’ve emailed me your CPanel details I can/will fix it up for you.

    This is fixed now.
