Missing Post Options

  • I recently upgraded my MH Magazine Lite theme from 2.0.5 to 2.1.0. That caused the subtitle/subheading to disappear from my posts. (Note that the data is still in wp_postmeta.) The 2.1.0 release notes indicate that they “Removed custom meta field for subheading to meet www.remarpro.com guidelines”. Not sure what guidelines those are, as I am no expert at WordPress. However … should you wish to re-add the subheading / subtitle, I figured out how. I posted the how-to on my site . (Not sure how to reformat it in this forum post box …)

    I’m a n00b in this forum, so if I violated some guideline, I apologize in advance.

    Hopefully this tip saves you the seven hours of pain & frustration I experienced! ??

    thanks for using MH Magazine lite.

    Not sure what guidelines those are, as I am no expert at WordPress.

    This falls under the “Presentation vs Functionality” guideline. In detail “Themes must not generate user content, or configure non-theme site options or site functionality.” – something like this falls under plugin territory on www.remarpro.com.

    This feature slipped through the initial review process when we first submitted the theme to www.remarpro.com and as we’re dedicated to meet the guidelines, we’ve removed it now to be fully compliant. In addition, it wouldn’t be fair to other theme authors to include something in the theme that others aren’t allowed to.

    However, to make up for the removal of this feature, we’ve added two new widgets in the free theme. And in case you still want to use the subheading in the free theme, your workaround is the way to go. ??

    As an alternative, the premium version of MH Magazine still has the subheading feature included, among many other additional features, options and custom widgets to customize your website.
