MGL and yootheme with gutenberg issues

    Hi,

    I was really excited about your gallery plugin when I came across tonight, but now I am facing an issue with my favorite theme by Yootheme:
    When I insert a Meow Galery, no matter if as Gutenberg block or transformed standard gallery, no matter which picture I choose or how many I select, it contains only the first four images from Mediamanager, in the article view as well as in the frontend.
    But – funny enough – when I edit the gallery / block, the pictures actually selected show up in the “edit Gallery” view.

    It would be great to get theme and plugin to work together, since I really want to use this great combination of tools on many sites, considering buying the lifetime version. Thanks for your kind assistance.

    Hi,

    The Meow Gallery let other plugins/themes modify the content of its attributes, and since it is using the standard Gallery shortcode, it might be that your theme is modifying the IDs.

    What you are saying is that the Meow Gallery always display the 4 same photos? Whatever the setup of it?

    Did you try disabling other gallery plugins or switching to another theme, even for a minute, just to know where this might come from?

    Hi Jordy,

    thanks for your quick reply.The issue obviously depends on the theme, since the free gallery & Lightbox work great with any other theme / plugin combination tested. Any idea on how to get the plugins to get along with Yootheme templates is welcome, I will ask their developer as well.

    And yes, I can confirm that gallery inserts only the first four images uploaded to the mediamanager, no matter if I pick just them or alongs with others, upload some new ones a.s.f. Sounds funny, but this really drives me mad ??

    I am sure we can figure this out, all your plugins sounds so promising as timesaver and long searched solution that the will be worth the effort.

    In the file mgl_run.php, please look for the function gallery. There is this line:

    $atts = apply_filters( 'shortcode_atts_gallery', $atts, null, $atts );

    Remove it. That will avoid other plugins or the theme to change the attributes set in the gallery. Does it work?

    Hi Jordy
    thanks for coming back to my issue. Unfortunately, that did not solve our problem, although it looked good at first. But then the same 4 pics from the media were inserted instead of the selected.

    But I can confirm, that the problem only occurs with Yoothemes Uikit themes, in the Twenty_some_what environment, the Meow Gallery works perfectly.

    I guess it would be best to ask them. They must know how and why they hijack the WP Gallery ?? I am pretty sure there is an answer and we don’t need to find a trick to avoid it.
