    I’ve got an event that I cannot get rid of:
    Event Shortcode Date Event Event Details
    [mfgigcal event_id=7] Feb 13, 2015 6 – 9 pm Dinner & Jazz in Alameda

    that seems to be effecting all subsequent events, in that once I create them, they will not show up, when I put [mfgigcal] on my Gigs page. I can do all the advanced usage (by event, by date, etc), but it would be a LOT easier if I could just put [mfgigcal] on my gigs page. And it will not let me create the real event for Feb 13 (by creating a new event) nor is there a delete function for that event.

    I have deleted the plug-in, including erasing all the data, but this event still shows up. I’ve tried the other gig plug-ins, but really (and I am not just saying this) yours is the easiest to use and I think creates the best results on the page (I have used the plug-in many times on other sites)

    I have decades of computer and PC experience, but I don’t know anything about SQL, so I am afraid you will tell me I have to go into the database and make some sort of change.

    Sorry about the trouble you’re having! What I’m guessing is the case is that you’ve got some extra (hidden) code in your event description that is causing the problem. This usually happens when you copy-paste from MS Word or some other program that includes text styles (fonts, sizes, alignment, whatever…) and that hidden code is messing up my plugin!

    I’ll try to get the plugin to do a better job stripping that out in the next release, but for now here’s how you can fix it.

    You can access the event to clean it up pretty easily. Once you are logged into your admin area try this URL based on your site address:

    The id= part or that link needs to match the event_id of your shortcode (that’s why I put a 7 in there).

    You should now be able to edit that troublesome event. Specifically take a look at the Event Location and Event Details – the ones that use the WYSIWYG editor. Click on the Text tab in the top right corner of those so you can see what’s happening behind the scenes. You’ll likely see a bunch of extra stuff in there. You can strip that out and start over, or try to just strip out what shouldn’t be there (if you’re familiar with the WordPress editor).

    Do that for both the Event Location and Event Details and click Save Event down at the bottom. That should take back to the list of events and should fix your problem.

    No DB access knowledge required. Let me know how it goes please!!

    Thanks, Matthew, for the help. I did strip everything out and did not use WORD to put the info in. But I think I was dinking around with Google Maps API and once I messed that up, nothing could be fixed.

    Fortunately, the site was just a few days old, so I deleted all of the site and rebuilt. Fixed everything. I generally don’t do anything quite so drastic (I also fixed computers so when I hear a tech say “reload the operating system”, I know they are taking the easy way out instead of finding the real problem), but in this case it seemed like a pretty painless way to go forward.

    Still love the plug-in and appreciate your suggestions.
