Method SVG returns “Update Failed” no other information

  • Latest Font Awesome Free, Version 5.12.0 running on WP 5.3.2 on IIS 8.5, PHP 7.27

    We are trying to use the SVG option. When I attempt to switch in Settings using the Method drop down, I get an “Update Failed” error message with no other information.

    Plugin does not detect any active clients or unregistered clients.

    Do you know whether your WordPress WebServer server (IIS, I suppose) has support enabled for the HTTP PUT verb?

    I think I’ve seen similar behavior before on the rare web server that has PUT disabled.

    I’ve just released 4.0.0-rc15 to the plugins directory.

    Could you give it a try and let me know how it goes?

    It’s a major update, so a lot will look different. It also includes extra error logging to the web console when there are problems, which might help to diagnose the root cause of the problem if there is still a problem.

    If you try this, update to at least 4.0.0-rc16 (skip rc15).
