I like using the Meteor Slides Plug-in very much but I have noticed two small what looks like positioning marks above and below the slides on the left hand side which detract from the visual experience. site: https://www.burford-pri.oxon.sch.uk/
Is there any way of removing these marks? I see them in IE and Firefox but not in Chrome. The setting are 1000×288 as are the size of the slides.

The slideshow is also slow to load when opening the sites homepage. Any suggestions on how to speed this up?

    Many thanks

    Hi there

I have discovered with a bit of playing around that if you place the shortcode at the top of the page as a heading, the marks are no longer there. Any suggestions as to faster loading would still be welcome however.

    Many thanks

Hi Andy, it sounds like the shortcode maybe has code tags wrapped around it. This can happen when you copy/paste the shortcode into the visual editor. Try switching to the HTML editor to remove the code tags, or paste it into there as plain text instead.

    Hi Josh

Thanks for your advice. I must have got rid of the tags when I repositioned (cut and pasted) the shortcode to the top of the page because there is no evidence of tags in the HTML editor and all is well with the appearance.

Aside from the usual – reducing the resolution of the images, which I have done – is there anything to make the slideshow load faster when opening the page? It lags behind the rest of the page only by a second or two but it would be nice if it could load with the rest of the page.

    Many thanks

Yea, pasting any HTML into the title field will strip the tags.

There are a couple things you can do to make the slides load faster. First, I would size them to the exact same size as the slideshow itself. Right now the slide images are about 300px wider than they need to be.

After you have resized them, I would compress the images a lot more, I use Save For Web in Photoshop, saving the images at 50% quality. Or you can use an online image compressor. With these tweaks you should be able to reduce the file size of each image from over 300k to less than 100k.

@emasco It really depends on the theme you are using for your website. You want two different header slideshows on two different pages?
