HIGH: MetaSlider in conflict with Page Builder after a save. Pages and posts are no more displayed.

    Hello,

I started using Page Builder last month.

Everything went well till I was modifying a post with Live Editor.

When I tried to save my changes, Page Builder took a long time and no pages ans posts initially designed with Page builder are no more displayed.

After investigating, I found out that there is a conflict between Meta Slider and Page Builder plugins now.

As a lot of the pages of the site are designed with Page Builder now, and including metaslider slides, such as start and landing pages, it’s a severe issue as the site is no more accessible as designed !

Thanks for your feedback and for your help !

    I’m using …
    – Page Builder by SiteOrigin – Version 2.9.1
    – MetaSlider – Version Version 3.10.0
    – MetaSlider – Pro Add-on Pack – Version 2.9.2
    – WordPress – Version 4.9.9

    Hi @potoman

Sorry to hear about the hassle.

I noticed you also opened a support topic on our forum: https://siteorigin.com/thread/page-builder-broke-all-pages-and/.

I’ve escalated the matter, we’ll reply ASAP.

If this helps, the latest versions for MetaSlider are:
    Free – 3.10.3
    Add-on pack – 2.12.0

The add-on pack has a bug fix in 2.11.0 that could be related. It only affected some databases but it would cause a timeout (especially if you have a lot of rows).

Try disabling the add-on pack and see if it resolves your issue.

    Also upgrade if you can.

    Hello @kbat82,

    Thanks for your reply.

After investigating, I found out that there is a conflict between Meta Slider Add-On and Page Builder plugins now.

    I just updated to

    Metaslider – Version 3.10.3
    Add-on pack – Version 2.12

Unfortunately, nothing changed. The issue is still the same.

    Regards

    Hello Andrew ( @misplon ),

Here’s the error in red that is displayed in the console when trying to disply the home page of the site, designed with SiteOrigin Page Builder and including MetaSlider sliders.

    [Exception… “Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIContentSniffer.getMIMETypeFromContent]” nsresult: “0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)” location: “JS frame :: resource:///modules/FaviconLoader.jsm :: onStopRequest :: line 181” data: no]

    Thanks for your feedback,

    Regards

    Hi Ptoman,

I see you have a caching plugin present and minify. Does clearing your minify and page cache help?

If not, can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins (leave Meta Slider active) and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If that doesn’t help, please try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hello alexgso (@alexgso),

    Here are my feedbacks,

Does clearing your minify and page cache help?

    Minify?
I cleared SuperCache and Optimize cache.
    Issue still there.

If not, can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins (leave Meta Slider active) and see if this fixes the issue?
    Already previously done.
Like explained, I deactivated all the plugins, except SiteOrigin ones.
No more issue. Once I only reactivated Metaslider, the same issue reappeared.
Which means that the issue is related to MetaSlider and Page Builder. Both of them were working previously before I saved a post managed with Page Builder yesterday. I have been using Metaslider for the last two years, with no particular issues with other plugins. I have been more intensively using Page Builder in posts for the last week.

    Hi potoman,

Just to confirm, this issue occurs when the only plugins enabled are from SiteOrigin and MetaSlider, right?
