• I have noticed that when reading a Gutenberg published title on a Kindle that the base metadata does not show, ie book title and author. The version I download is the EPUB format. Is this something that’s fixable by putting the right entries in the xml? Funnily enough I can see this data in ‘content.opf’ but the Kindle does not display it. Thanks for Reading.

Hi @redallover – I must confess I don’t fully understand. Gutenberg is a tool for publishing on the web (using WordPress) – are you able to tell me more about what you mean by a ‘Gutenberg published title’ on Kindle?

The Gutenberg project is publishing out of copyright titles in digital form. So maybe the issue is with WordPress tool. Maybe the ability to display title and author on the Kindle may be only available in the proprietary Amazon digital format and not included in whatever API they publish. Hey ho.

Thanks for clarifying @redallover. The Gutenberg Project (which publishes eBooks) is actually separate from the the WordPress Software (of which the Gutenberg editor/plugin is a part).

I’d recommend reaching out to them directly:
