Metaboxes for custom taxonomy

I have hierarchical set to true when I register taxonomies, but, on the Edit Post page of my custom post type, I’m still getting the text field to enter values, rather than a checkbox list. What do I need to enable to get checkboxes for custom taxonomies with the Edit page? Thanks!
