From this https://metabox.io/best-wordpress-multilingual-plugins-reviews/ MB is compatible with Polylang. However, when I save a page, the values in each custom field is saved in the same language with the post.

For example, I have pages, each page has two versions, English and Vietnamese. I have created several custom fields.
– Opening the English version, I added values in custom fields.
– Then switching to the Vietnamese version, I see the English values brought into the custom fields. So, I manually translated to Vietnamese. Then Save.

Now, the English version is also showing Vietnamese values in custom fields.

Am I missing some settings? Or doing something wrong here?

I’ve checked the plugin and it lacks the code for Polylang. I’ll ask the team to add this feature and release it in a couple of days. Please wait.

Do you have an wpml-config.xml file?
If you don’t have, please create it and follow the documentation here https://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/

Just wanted to confirm: I am asking the problem between Metabox and Polylang, not between Metabox and WPML. Why do I need to create a wpml-config.xml file?

Hi Hung,

The Polylang plugin uses the same mechanism as WPML. It requires you to define which custom field is copied, which one is translated and so on. And to define those rules, it inherits the configuration file from WPML, which is wpml-config.xml. That’s why @truongwp answered above.
