Whenever I try to change the blog layout, say from content-sidebar to content-sidebar-sidebar, if there are no other widgets in the sidebar, if it is empty, the Meta Widget appears. When I look through the backend, there are no widgets listed for that sidbar, but the Meta widget is still there. When I add widgets, it disappears.

Currently, I do not have this in place, since it looks ridiculous to have just the Meta widget all by itself on the side, but I can change it if that helps troubleshooting. I thought this might be a common glitch, but I can’t find an answer.

  • Hi

Yes, this is an annoying feature of a lot of themes. There is an easy fix though that I found by trial and error a long time ago. Go ahead and drag over an EMPTY “Text” widget into the sidebar that you do not wish to use. Leave it blank and the sidebar should appear empty with no meta widget.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hmm… I was hoping to avoid a workaround, but it is what it is. Thanks.
