at the bottom of the post is seo settings, under general is meta title and meta description. The meta title section does show the blog post title, but the part where it ads the sitename is an old sitename. Ive changed the sitename in wordpress, but it still keeps showing the old sitename. I tried to disable and re enable the plugin, but it still shows the postname plus the incorrect site title as meta title.

If i tic the radio box to remove site title, it does remove it. but Im trying to get it to display the correct site title along with the post title, like its supposed to. any suggestions on how to correct the site title that it is using for meta data? Thanks!

i saved the theme the titles empty and then uninstalled and reinstalled plugin and now it has picked up the correct title. Ill let you know if further problem. for now, looks like i fixed it. thanks

Sorry, I spoke to soon. This morning I see that the meta title is still showing a title that I used previously, but isnt used anywhere else in my site.. So Im not sure how to get it to show the current site title. Any suggestions? Ill try to clear caches. But let me know if you have suggestion. Thanks.

    Hello!

You can change the site title TSF uses at these places:

    1. WP Admin > Settings > General > Site Title.
    2. But, you can overwrite that at: SEO Settings > Title Settings > Additions > Site Title
    3. For the homepage, you can overwrite both at: SEO Settings > Homepage Settings > General > Meta Title.

If all of them show your new site title, then I think there’s a caching issue at a lower level (database or operating system).

OK, thanks for your previous reply! Your instructions worked.

One other question: when making a post, in the seo section, when the meta title ads the site title to the post title, its usually too long, according to the color indicated. there is the box you can tic to remove the site title and then it shows green for a good length.

But there is also a recommendation to use the site title in the meta title for search engines. So what is Best Practice. Ignore when it shows red and says the site title is too long, or tic the box to remove the site title, so I have green for title length. From an seo standpoint, what would be the best practice? Thanks!

    Hello!

I recommend adding a custom title that fits within the boundaries while still using proper title branding.

    To learn more, see https://tsf.fyi/kb/pixelcounter.

If the brand name (site name) is too long and you cannot shorten it, I’m afraid you’re stuck with that. Still, if the brand allows for it, you can add a custom brand name at “SEO Settings > Title Settings Additions > Site Title.”
