Hi, I’ve searched all over for an answer and can’t find one. I recently clicked the “make site live” a few days ago. Now when I go to share it on social (facebook) the preview snippet still shows the old information and “coming soon” meta from the Coming soon page.

I am hosting through bluehost and called them about it. They said don’t worry about it it will just take a few days to switch over. well it hasn’t yet. the guy I was talking to sounded like he didn’t have a clue about what I was talking about cause his first suggestion was i needed to register my meta with google.

So I have tried everything. I have deactivated all the plugins. I have yoast installed and have tried every combination in their options. I have searched everywhere for an answer and nothing. I have a feeling that its a server issue because the snippet is showing my old site title that my site was called when i first started building the site.

“Ocean City NJ Mag – Coming Soon
This page is used to test the proper operation of your recent MOJO Marketplace installation of WordPress! If you can read this page it means your installation was successful!”

    That’s the snippet it shows.

  • I have run into this before and took a week or two for the changes to reflect on Facebook. I have a feeling that Facebook is caching the Meta Data from when it was originally posted. In theory, it makes, sense. From an FB performance perspective, it makes more sense to cache the Meta results then to continuously fetch new data especially if it is a URL that get’s posted by multiple users.

Ok i figured it out. https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/ you can force facebook to re-crawl your site.

    Good to know thanks!

Facing absolutely the same issue here. Freshly launched website hosted in bluehost.
They’ve sent us to web developers because “this is out of their competences and support”.
I hope it will work now with the re-crawl.
