  • Hi Mike,

Ignore the wp_footer() warning, if you’ve checked and it’s there, then just click ‘dismiss this message’.

I can see you’ve put the shortcode in a text widget. Shortcodes don’t work in text widgets by default.

    You have 2 options:
    1. Just use the ‘Meta Slider’ widget instead
    2. Get shortcodes working in text widgets: https://digwp.com/2010/03/shortcodes-in-widgets/

Wow! Thanks for your help that fixed the problem. However, why is it that I just finished on https://hoopershookup.com and we have Meta Slider embedded in text widgets all over the place and it works? Can you tell me what is different because that site is running 2.2.1 of Meta Slider.

    Hi Mike,

On your other site, your theme (or maybe another plugin) is probably including the text widget ‘fix’ for you, it’s quite common I think for theme authors just to put it into their themes by default.

Good to hear it’s sorted ??

    Regards,
    Tom

I’ve created a custom sidebar and added two Meta Slider widgets, one for my Costa Rica (H) and one for my Costa Rica (V). The first shows perfectly but all I get for the second is a grey box. The short code on one is 1018 and the other is 1015, but when I look at the source code for the page I only see one of them. ???

    Page is https://www.garycjones.ca/?page_id=732

    Hi ChecMark,

The slideshow (ID 1018) is included in both the page content and the sidebar, but you can only include the same slideshow on a page once. We’ll look to fix that in a future update.

    Regards,
    Tom.

Thank you for your quick response, but I removed the short code from the page. Are you saying I can’t have two different Meta Sliders in the sidebar?

One is for horizontal photos and the other is for vertical photos.

You can have as many different slideshows as you want on the same page, but you can’t have duplicates of the same slideshow.

It looked like you had slideshow 1018 in your main page content (in the blog post), but were also trying to include the same slideshow (1018) in your sidebar.

If you want 1018 in your sidebar then you’d need to remove it from your page content first.

    Regards,
    Tom.

I had removed it from my page before creating the sidebar and adding the two Meta Sliders to the sidebar. Doesn’t the Costa Rica (H), short code 1018 and Costa Rica (V), short code 1015, mean they are two different sliders?

    Please could you double check?

I can see slideshow 1018 in your page content (working)

Then I can see 1015 in the sidebar (working)

Then I can see 1018 in the sidebar (not working as it’s a duplicate)

    Regards,
    Tom.

Maybe clear your cache? The short code was removed from the page. I am trying to get 1018 and 1015 to show in the sidebar.

    Hi, my cache is clear.

    Please see this screenshot: https://screencast.com/t/pLPvkXoZ

The yellow blocks on the right hand side mark the 2 instances of the slideshow markup for ID 1018 in the source of the page.

    Regards,
    Tom.

My sincere apologies, Tom. I forgot that when designing the page I put the horizontal photos at the top and the vertical ones much lower in the text. I removed the duplicate short code and both sliders are working perfectly now – https://www.garycjones.ca/?page_id=732

I don’t like the stand alone slider at the top of my text, although the larger photos are better. I don’t care for them in the sidebar because they are now too small. Similar to the placement of images; namely left or right with horizontal and vertical space around them, is there any way to add code to the sliders to achieve the same result? I would love to have the slider to the left of the text like an image placement.

    Thanks!
