meta keywords, meta description
-
I’ve literally spent days and days trying to get this import to work the way I thought it would.
I’m starting with a Dreamweaver site. But, if I select the editable region to import, it just won’t. So I’ve had to use a more generic “content” div tag, and then manually delete all the extra html for the menu system that was within the content div. That’s bad enough.
But, at least the page content is in wordpress, that’s a huge help in itself.
Now, I can not get either the meta keywords or description text to come over.
I’m using YOAST SEO plugin, and it has a specific area on each page to enter the Description text, and I turned on the Keyword box too. (the client wants both meta tags brought over…).
But nothing from the old Dreamweaver pages are coming in.
in the plugin, I am using the Custom Fields tab. Even though there is a “Title & Metadata” tab, I see nothing in that tab that refers to metadata. Am I missing something?
Anyway, in Custom Fields, I’m not sure what to enter.
From left to right:
Custom field name: What goes here? “meta”?
Tag: would I use “Keywords” or “Description”? for the tag?
Attribute: ?
Value: ?What exactly would I put in those 4 fields, for the importer to bring in the 2 meta tags I want?
And will it even do it at all? Will it put those 2 tags in the right place on each page so that Yoast SEO shows it?
I have 300+ pages to bring over, and the thought of manually copying/pasting meta tags on each one is giving me nightmares.
thoughts?
