Meta Descriptions not being pulled from the template

    I have searched the forums but I cannot find an answer to my problem.

    The problem I am having is that when I add %%excerpt%% to the meta description template it is not updating any of my posts/listings

    Do I need to add some code somewhere?

    Also, does this work on new posts only or should it also update existing posts/listings?

    Can someone please point me in the right direction?
