Meta-Description Translation

I’m posting this message because I’m willing to know in what language I should be writting my meta-description…

Indeed, my website and my overall dashboard are in French, and I have a plugin which, thanks to a switch, allows me to have my website translated into English

Nonetheless, when it comes to meta-description, as it is external to the website page content, I’m not sure whether I should be writing it in French or in English, because I’m not sure wether or not a translation would take place at some point… which makes me confused with the approach I should adopt…
So I’ve for example done the meta-description of my landing page in English but some of the main categories

My website is an online store

Thinking about it, does it mean, or / and would it be efficient for me to make a meta-description for every single product from my online store through the Yoast SEO plugin ?… Process which would be quite time-consuming without really knowing whether there would be a certain efficiency or not…
