Meta description on index page

  • I am stumped on this one. How can I add a meta description to my home page on Customizr? Check my site at https://www.groutkleen.com
    I am using WordPress SEO and when I go in the admin and to SEO> Titles & Meta> Home> I see this only “You can determine the title and description for the front page by editing the front page itself ?” When I click the link, it dumps me back to this page. There is no option to change the title or description metas. Please help

    Really racking my brain on this one. Any help would be appreciated on how I can add a meta tag description to the home page.

    Hi @tattooz305, if you have defined a front page in appearance > customize > front page, it will be registered as your front page in the WordPress database and the WordPress SEO plugin will be able to find it in the “Homepage & Front page” option tab.

    Hi. I’m stumped on this too. WordPress SEO does not seem to recognize my defined front page. When I search for my page in google.com the meta description that shows is the text I have written in my first “featured page” of the three, as opposed to my page meta description.     Hi. Thanks. I believe what was happening was when I did my google search my cache was not cleared and my old meta description showed up in the results. All is good now. Thanks for your help.

    I worked hard and well on custimizr and I would like to solve the problem of meta description home page
    how can I do?

    You need to create a new page called ‘Home’ and do your SEO edits there. Leave this page blank, SEO plugin will show some issues but Google will still see it.

    Then you set in Customize it, Front PAge ‘Home and Post page whatever page your Blog is on.

    I had the same issues until someone here suggested the same, now it is resolved

    the majority of SEO plugins will try to find which page has been registered as the front page in your database options with get_option(‘page_on_front’).

    When choosing “Don’t show any post or page”, no specific page is registered as front page, meaning that it won’t be found by any plugin.

    Two possible solutions to this problem :
    1) Workaround : define an empty page as your front page and then optimize its SEO options with your plugin
    2) Do it yourself : hook in the WordPress function to add your custom SEO options, for example, the site title can be modified with wp_title hook. You can also add meta tags by hooking into the wp_head hook.
