The meta description for my website isn’t showing up when I search it on Google. The description just shows up blank even though I have it on my page on my website.

  • Hi @michelle175,

We searched for your site and found that Yoast SEO is showing the same description as what’s appearing in the Google search results. See screenshot.

We have a troubleshooting guide available for this problem here: Google shows the wrong meta description for my site. Do any of the steps solve the problem?

    Hi there,

But if you just search “livefounderspoint” on google it shows up with no meta description. I’m also not sure why all these random pages are showing up in the google search after the homepage? Like tag>property. Is there a way to remove those?

@michelle175 We tried searching in a Google query for only ‘livefounderspoint’ but are still seeing a meta description displayed (see image here).

It’s common for Google to change the Title/Description it displays if it find the keyphrase or part of the keyphrase in content of one of the pages, and then shows that content as the Title/Meta Description it shows in the results.

Also, we aren’t seeing many pages listed in this query. Other than your site, the only other page shown was too a page that listed your domain among other of domains registered for a specific date.

Yes I now see that description too. Is there a way to fix this so it’s the actual meta description that I added?

I was actually talking about the screenshot you shared earlier where there were other pages listed.

    Hi,

You can try a request to fetch the updated information from Google Search Console so that Google can crawl that page again — https://yoast.com/help/fetch-as-googlebot/

However, in the end, it would be up to Google as to when they would recrawl your website and show the updated information in the search results or if they decide to still show their preferred snippet information. If that’s the case, then there’s not much you can do, aside from changing the meta description itself in the chance that Google will output your preferred description — https://yoast.com/help/my-meta-descriptions-arent-showing-up-in-the-search-result-pages/#h-google-decided-to-show-a-different-meta-description
