    Hi

I have a lot of pages on my website which on google it is showing two website links of mine, Any reason why this is, Is it because of meta description?

For example – on one page I have set up Yoast with the following meta:

Title – Computer Repairs, Laptop Repairs and IT Support in Ashted Nechells
Meta Description – Computer Repairs, Laptop Repairs, IT Support in Ashted Nechells. We also offer any PC Support and IT Support. Call us Today: 0121 679 9865 We cover Saltley, Aston, Gravelly Hill, Witton, Gosta Green and Alum Rock

This is what shows in the search engine listing (Google) for the term “Computer Repairs, Laptop Repairs, IT Support in Ashted Nechells”

The other one is from https://www.pcrepairguru.co.uk/birmingham/saltley/

Can anybody give me advice on how I can fix these pages please? I had expected Yoast to put in the correct meta but it appears it isn’t, or that Google is ignoring it?

Also if I put the link in the “Canonical URL” will that show google that it needs to rank that website link.

    Any help would be nice.

We looked at the relevant page source code on our and can see multiple sets of the <title> and as well as the social open graph properties. Having multiple sets of the <title> confuses search engines to show the correct SEO title in the search results even though Yoast SEO is generating the SEO title correctly as expected.

Therefore, you’ll need to make sure that your currently active theme has support for the WordPress title hook add_theme_support( 'title-tag' ); and not manually adding the <title> tag in the theme.

On the other hand, when adding a canonical URL on a page, the relevant page where you have added the canonical will no longer be crawled anymore by search engines but will redirect to the canonical URL page. You can learn more about this here.

    Hello @jedimax!

It’s still the same. You can verify it yourself by checking the source code of this URL. Currently, there are 2 <title> tags and quite a number of og:image tags.

You need to disable any plugin or theme functions that may be generating those duplicate tags. If you’re not sure which ones to disable, you can perform a conflict check. The fastest way to do this is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Nineteen. If the issue goes away, reactivate your other plugins one at a time and check if the issue occurs again for every plugin reactivated. After all plugins are active, switch to your theme. This will narrow down the conflict to a specific plugin or a theme conflict. Test this on your development or staging site. If you don’t have one, please check with your web host.
