  • Hello!

We’re sorry you’re having trouble getting your meta description to show up on Google. Just to verify, if you check the source code of the URL, does it show the correct meta description? Can you please provide us the relevant URL?

    Hello,

So we checked the page source of https://macoapp.cz/ and the meta description is:

<meta name="description" content="MACO je digitální vizitka. Maco umo?ňuje u?ivatel?m si vyměňovat sociální média a kontaktní informace pouhym p?ilo?ením Maco proti telefonu někoho jiného." />

We believe this matches your expectation. We also performed a site search and the meta description in Google search is correct. See image.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. What you have entered in the Yoast SEO plugin matches what’s in the age source and search results. This is not an issue with our plugin.

Whereas Google typically uses the title and meta description from the page’s metadata for indexing, this is not always the case. Google will sometimes modify or ignore the title and meta description when it sees fit, as well as sometimes adding the brand or site name to the end of your title. This is not due to the plugin not functioning as expected, but rather due to Google using another value for the title and meta description that it indexes, as its algorithm has concluded that there is a better version to index.

We imagine you’re concerned with whether Google is actually able to see the current information. You can check that by using the URL Inspection Tool, which shows you a page as Google sees it. We suspect Google is not having any trouble reading the content on your page. Instead, the title and meta description are being rewritten automatically depending on the query. Here is a great resource from Google on this issue.

@michalkalensky When you enter a specific query like ‘Macoapp’ in Google, if Google finds that keyphrase to be contained within one of your site’s page’s content, it will frequently auto generate it’s own version of the meta description based off that page content and in turn display that meta description in the search results instead of the meta description that you specified for the page.

Can I do something about that?

@michalkalensky Unfortunately this behavior is just part of how Google creates it’s own meta descriptions. It does that when it thinks that a version it can generate is more helpful to the user who is searching.

Whereas Google typically uses the title/description from the metadata for indexing, this is not always the case. Google will sometimes modify them as it sees fit, as well as sometimes adding the brand or site name. This is not due to the plugin not functioning as expected, but rather caused by Google.

Please refer to those articles as they include recommendations for crafting titles/descriptions which will help increase the likelihood that Google will use the ones that you specified instead of modifying them as it sees fit.
