    Hi,

I always thought Google ignores meta description I write for blog posts as they pick what it sees fit from the content.

But for homepage, displaying random Amazon affilate disclaimer doesn’t seem right? When I search my site, that’s what I see instead of meta description on homepage.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    Thanks!

    Hello!

You can use data-nosnippet to block parts from being used. Example:

    <div data-nosnippet>Amazong affiliate disclaimer text here</div>

    To learn more: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/robots/robots_meta_tag#data-nosnippet-attr.

You cannot influence this behavior of Google via The SEO Framework (or any other plugin, for that matter). You may be able to divert Google’s attention by using “Amazon” as a keyword in your custom description text; then, Google might use your description instead of the disclaimer whenever someone searches for “Amazon.”

Please note that changes to your website take time to be consumed by robots. So improvements to your site might not always appear to affect Google Search.

The weird thing is meta description for homepage did work fine with Yoast and Rank Math. Even so, the SEO Framework is my favourite of all because of its simplicity.

Hope this will do the trick.

    Thank you!
