    Hi Hotcoffee,

If you have Autogenerate Descriptions checked under All in One SEO, General Settings, Advanced Settings then All in One SEO will use the post excerpt if you have manually set or or, if not, it will use the first 160 characters from your content.

If you don’t have Autogenerate Descriptions checked then no meta description will be output.

    Hi wpsmort,

A follow-up question. I’ve been using All in One SEO and when i googled my site, I saw the root URL displayed and a meta description of the first 160 characters from my most recent article. (I had the “autogenerate descriptions” box checked)

What do I need to do to just have a default description of my site displayed under my site url on google?

…I probably need to turn off the “autogenerate descriptions”…and then what?

    thank you,
    Matt

You want this for all posts and pages or just certain ones?

If certain ones: I’m not sure…

If all posts and pages: should be a setting for that. ??

Of course that isn’t very good seo… so maybe there isn’t a setting for it. Shouldn’t be if you ask me.

    Hi merosler,

We don’t have any way to set a default meta description for all pages. Each page of content should have a unique meta description, Google will complain at you if you don’t have unique meta descriptions for every page of content.
