Meta box available in Custom Post Types

Actually the plugin add meta boxes just on pages and posts.

The add_meta_boxes function needs to specify a slug for specific custom types, and it should need an additional field in settings for it.

Honestly is something we did not think about when we decided to add the meta boxes feature, but probably is something we’ll add in next release.

just to understand better your ( an maybe of other users ) needs:

you think that could be helpful having an extra field in the settings to specify one ( or more ) Custom Post Types where to show the B.com metabox, right ?

Generally we tend to gather feedback and bug fixes and release a new version every two month ( unless should be some heavy bug that requires a prompt fix release ).

If we’ll decide to add this feature will be available in next release for sure ( let’s say early March ).

While you’re looking at the custom post types and metadata, you might explain how it works right now? I can’t see any option to link to a location at all, although you said in another reply it had been added in V1.3???

It would be far better for the destination field in settings to link to a custom metadata field, so for example “location” which could be set for both blog posts and custom posts. If you could do this you would save people like me a lot of time creating custom search boxes for each post using the other plugin (which seems to have a problem right now anyway).

BTW, you refer people to the other plugin when they want to use metadata by post, but that doesn’t support it properly either. Gives me a choice of five destinations picked randomly from the 100s covered on my website.

thanks for your feedback in this.
Although in general would be a really good idea ( linking the destination input to a custom field ) it would not work better then the actual meta boxes created in ver 1.3.

The fact is to perform an optimal search the engine needs the destination type and ID: and this is what we added in that version.

So you would need to add those two parameters anyway.

If you open or edit a post / page you should be able to see at the bottom a Meta Box where specify a destination type and ID.

Obviously it’s not optimal for bulk actions, but this is a way you can have a different destination for specific post / page then the one specified in settings.

We’ll try to make it better to come to users needs !

I just have an additional question; let me know if I have to start a new thread…

Is it possible to select in stead of a destination type (city, landmark, region, district) and/or destination id to select a single property, so we can use the search box as a kind of deep linking feature.

Please have a look at this page https://www.amsterdamtourist.info/hostels/backpacker-hostels/st-christophers-inn-winston/ so you know what I mean.

I am using the search box on every single page of a hotel, hostel etc in Amsterdam. So if visitors are using the searchbox they have to be directed to the booking.com page of that single property with the selected dates…
