Hi there, since the last update (1.7.9) it seems that the plugin is messing up some back-end editors in the admin panels. Specifically the global css editor when working with Oxygen Builder. Seems as if GTranslate tries to translate the code and is inserting text and making editing the code impossible. This didn;t happen bevore GTranslate was updated yesterday. Everything else was updated and I verified that when GTranslate is switched off everything is fine.

Is there a way to prevent GTranslate to run in the admin back-end?

Here’s an image showing the problem: https://area.fullframestudios.ch/SupportInquiriesImages/GTranslate/OxygenBuilder_CSSEditor.JPG

    WordPress 5.4.2
    GTranslate 1.7.9
    Oxygen Builder 3.4 (https://oxygenbuilder.com/)

    Hi,

Try to select the main language from the switcher and try again. It seems like it is changing the language.

    Thanks! ??

Thanks @edo888! That fixed it. It appeared not because of updating the plugin, but because I switched the settings of GTranslate to “Auto switch to browser language”.

It would be nice to have a setting where the plugin would not try to translate in the back-end.

Cheers & Sorry for my late reply,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,

We only translate pages with the language selector and I do not think that you can place a language selector on admin pages. May be you have some admin features available on front-end with your specific theme.

    Thanks! ??

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for my late reply, I was away a few days.

I am using Oxygen Builder as mentioned. And the translation drop down appears twice. Once for the entire browser window and then within the editable content.

GTranslate definitely messes up the editing. I always have to make sure that I enter text to the set base language set in the plugin. Else it will actually store translated text.

    For instance:
    – Base language set to Spanish
    – Translation drop down set to English
    – Open a page and edit it with the Oxygen Builder
    – I enter text in Spanish and the text is translated to English and saved in English

Which results in the text not being translated once I look at it in the front end because the plugin detects English text, anticipating Spanish text.

Soo, long story short. I have to disable the plugin, make my edits and re-enable the plugin. This is cumbersome. Maybe you can reach out to Oxygen Builder, or make a demo install here and test it yourself: https://oxygenbuilder.com/try/

    Thanks & Cheers

    Hi,

When you are in edit mode in Oxygen do you see /wp-admin in the browser address bar?

If you do not see it, then you are editing from front-end and GTranslate will try to translate it and will cause a mess, so you have to disable it before editing.

    Thanks! ??

    No I don’t see /wp-admin.

It’s a nice plugin for translation, I even considered going pro. But I will talk to the Oxygen dev’s and see if there’s a less cumbersome solution to this.

    Hi,

So my point is that Oxygen is doing the “editing” in front-end and GTranslate tries to translate it as any other front-end page, which obviously is wrong.

May be Oxygen developer can add notranslate class to the whole page html while in edit mode, in that case GTranslate will not translate anything.

    Thanks! ??
