• Hello, I was editing the CSS function.php and I think I made an error. Now when I try opening up my website (lailaiflorist.com) or log into my wp admin, the page would say: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘function’ (T_FUNCTION) in /home4/alicemungyu/public_html/wp-content/themes/sela/functions.php on line 251

I downloaded FileZilla and looked into it but I don’t see anything wrong with it. Can someone please help me? Thank you so much!

  • Using ftp or the file manager provided by your host, delete wp-content/themes/sela/functions.php. Download a fresh copy of your theme and then upload that file.

CSS is in styles.css, not in functions.php

download a clean copy of your theme from whereever you first got it and, via ftp, upload the functions.php file to wp-content/themes/sela, replacing the one that’s mucked up.

Do the same with this file, CSS function.php

Thanks for replying! Would I have to redo the site then?

If you modified those files, the mods will be gone if you upload fresh copies.

It’s best to work in a child theme and to make regular (and frequent) backups.
