    Hi,

I just installed the Directory. Now every few seconds a message like this pops up:
“Web 2.0 Directory plugin: your Google browser API key is invalid or missing. …”

Super annoying. I don’t want a map at this point, maybe later.

How can I get rid of these messages?

    Thank you!

    Hello,

disable maps in all listings levels, look at Directory Admin -> Listings levels page.

Thanks, that’s some relief. Maybe you could consider using the usual top text box rather than alerts? Those boxes can be ignored, alerts cannot …
    Thank you!

    Exactly!

After ignored messages there would be tons of support requests “Why my maps do not work?”

I don’t mean overlooked, but consciously ignored after having read them three times. Anyway, when the key is not entered or not correct, Google still shows a map and makes it very clear on it that something’s wrong with the key. Why would that cause additional support requests for you?
And then, these requests would be very simple to answer. Isn’t it better to have a brief friendly contact with a client rather than annoying him with such aggressive alerts popping up every few seconds?

These are years of experience. They give me another point of view.
